Churches are part of our history and community institutions.  In Pine Island, churches continue as they've always been--a source of community strength.

Good News Evangelical Free Church - Our mission is to bring glory to God by compassionately sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and by providing a caring environment where Christians can grow in their relationship with Him. We recognize the need for biblical instruction and study to help explain how truths in the Bible are relevant and how they can be applied to the questions and challenges that we face each day. We strive to provide an environment that promotes an honest, growing relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, Bible study, and fellowship.  We believe this will produce growth in other areas including healthy relationships, personal godliness, and the development of the unique, God-given abilities we each possess.  We encourage the development and use of these abilities both within our own church, our community, and our world.

United Methodist Church – Our church has a 150 year tradition of spiritual vitality, commitment to education and reaching out in missions. Our goal is to nurture people to be active representatives of God’s love in the world and the community.  Our passion is learning about God’s love not only through great worship, but in fellowship and sharing the loving hand of service and seeking justice.  Our tradition gives us a great foundation to build upon, but our heart to serve God is this day and age has us continually seeking new ways to do this.   We invite you to be a part of our rich tradition and help us share God’s love now and in the future.

Senior Citizens Club:

The Pine Island Senior Citizens Club is a vibrant community that offers a variety of social activities for its members. The Club serves as a social link to organizations that provide opportunities for seniors such as tax preparation and legal document services or taking a bus to the movie theater. The Club also holds fundraisers such the Malt Wagon at the yearly Cheesefest in addition to occasional bake sales and pancake breakfasts.

Sometime around summer 2010, the new senior citizens’ building will open across the street from City Hall. This building will offer space for activities such as playing cards, making quilts, and woodworking, in addition to an office for Home Services.

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at noon in the City Hall, followed by a lunch at 2:30pm. The Club also holds a lunch on the third Wednesday of the month at 2:30pm. Those who are not yet ready to join the Club can still come to 2nd floor of City Hall every weekday at 11 am, where many seniors gather for a lunch held by an outside organization followed by card games at noon.
